- To established a cemetery organization for Muslims within the metropolitan geographic area of Ekurhuleni
- To ensure that every Muslim deceased is afforded a dignified burial according to established Islamic norms and practices.
- To represent the interests of the wider Muslim community in Ekurhuleni and its surrounding areas on issues affecting the burial of deceased Muslims.
- To liaise, co-operate, and, where necessary, to form partnership/s with the relevant organs of state and / or its agencies, and / or any other organization with similar goals, in the best interests of the broader Muslim community related to matters of burial and cemetery.
- To strive for co-operation, collaboration, and mutual understanding among the member organizations of the EMB and to promote their collective interests.
- To support any effort project or program aimed at the up-keep and good maintenance of the cemeteries in the jurisdiction of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Geographic Area.
- To raise financial and other resources to conduct and carry out the activities and programs of the EMB for assistance if such a need does arise and with mutual consent of the parties involved.
- To engage in any other activities that will be in the best interests of the community.
